Rhinebeck Community Connector is a free, independent community website with no advertising and no commercial motive. This notice explains what information this site collects, what it does with that information, and what it does not do.
The short version: we collect as little as possible, we don't sell or share anything, and we don't track you.
This site is hosted on Vercel. Like most web hosts, Vercel may log basic server data — including IP addresses and browser information — as part of normal infrastructure operation. This data is held by Vercel under their own privacy policy and is not accessed or used by this site for any purpose.
This site does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, advertising networks, or any other invasive tracking technology. We do run lightweight anonymous analytics so the operator can see how many people use the site and which pages get visited — details below.
If you submit an event through the Submit form, we collect the information you provide — typically an event name, date, location, description, and contact details. This information is used only to review and potentially publish your event listing. Contact details are used only if we need to follow up with you about your submission. We do not share this information with third parties.
If you send a message through the contact form or by email, we receive and store your message and email address. This information is used only to respond to your inquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list or share your contact information.
We collect a small amount of anonymous data so the operator can tell whether the site is actually useful to the community. No IP addresses are stored. No fingerprinting is used. No advertising profile is built.
What gets recorded on each page view: the page URL, the referring site (if any), your country (derived from your network connection at the edge by our hosting provider — we never store the IP), your browser family, and a random session identifier your browser stores in localStorage. The session identifier lets us count unique visitors over time without identifying anyone. You can erase it any time by clearing site data in your browser.
A few named events are also recorded — when someone submits an event, saves an event to favorites, or files a correction. These tell us how often the site is actually used, not just visited. Same anonymity rules: no who, just what.
All of this data goes into our own database (Supabase) and into Vercel Analytics, our hosting provider's built-in analytics product. It is never sold, rented, or shared with advertisers or third parties.
This site may embed maps or link to external sites (such as event venues or organizer pages). Those sites operate under their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
